Ceiling or floor radiant cooling?
There is no single answer to the question of whether radiant ceiling or floor cooling is better.
Radiant ceiling, like underfloor, solves cooling and heating with a single system, takes up no space, requires no maintenance, is quiet, and provides very fast set-up. In heating, the performance of radiant ceiling and floor can be almost equal, and often the choice depends on personal preference, and site constraints. For example, for some people the feeling of cold starts at the feet, so radiant floors may better solve the heating issue, especially when it comes to ground-floor or country homes, or historic buildings with ornate ceilings.
The sensation of well-being induced by ceiling cooling is literally unparalleled, because it conveys a feeling of enveloping comfort, without “hibernating” the rooms and without moving a thread of air.
The climate created in the home is delightfully pleasant and restorative, of a much higher quality than that achieved by air conditioning, which merely “shoots” cold air in one direction. Should the conditions exist to achieve it, ceiling cooling is therefore the best choice from the standpoint of indoor comfort.
